We got some hands-on time with Exoborne, the new shooter from Sharkmob, in August 2024, and it seems to be very useful, especially for many fans of the game. knowledge that is not designed to punish them at all times. In February, curious fans will have the chance to try it out for themselves in Exoborne’s first public game.
“We’ve been doing test recordings both online and in our studio for some time,” executive producer Brynley Gibson written. “But this is our first big test, and it is the most important for us. By entering this stage of open cooperation with the community, we are proud to collect the owners eight key points and feedback that will help us push the game to new heights.”
The reference to “new heights” is, I think, a play on words: As we said in our preview, Exborne is big on verticality, and “you can be zipping around with a grappling hook or charge a power jump every few seconds, then gliding back with a return deployable parachute.
I’m still disappointed that Sharkmob’s previous game, Vampire: Masquerade-Bloodhunt, couldn’t find an audience and ended development in 2023. I like its balance of weapons, special abilities, movement, and (too) long to kill, which suited me very well as not-at-all-hardcore battle royale player. But with its fate sealed, I’m happy to see that Sharkmob seems to be taking a similar approach to Exoborne: I don’t see that interesting place (Bloodhunt is also a better Vampire game than I thought yes) but, if the gameplay is competitive, I would have passed the speed limit.
The Exoborne playtest is scheduled to begin on February 12 and run through February 17. To enter, log in to Room and hit the “request to enter” button. You can also keep track of the results Exoborne Discord server.
