Nintendo’s decision to announce everything but the Switch 2 continues today with the news that its beloved Game Boy handheld is getting the Lego treatment later this year.

This is far from the first time Nintendo has collaborated with Lego, of course; companies have released various interactive Mario-themed sets, and The Legend of Zelda’s Great Deku Tree was also Lego-ised last year. It’s not the first time a Nintendo console has been immortalized in small plastic block form; The Lego version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System launched back in 2020 – and what a beauty it is too.

And now it’s Game Boy’s turn, as shown in short of video teases share on Nintendo’s social media channels. As the video unfolds, we see various Lego pieces glide in tempting soft-focus across the screen, but there is sadly no indication of all the Lego creations present.

Not that it should be too hard to imagine. Fans have been building their own Game Boys out of Lego for quite some time now, like this one happy for the effort by video editor and Lego Masters Australia finalist Nick Lever, who shared online last year.

Need more details after today’s Lego Game Boy tease, I’ll update this story. But for now, all we know for sure is that it will arrive sometime this October.
