Description

There is still life for the old dog. Although The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is thought to have been played by all people at this time, 90% off commitment has made the 13-year-old responsible for playing one of the most played games of Steam again.

The deal reduces the price of Skyrim‘s updated Special Edition for only $3.99. At the time of writing, there are still a few hours left to pick it up at that price: the deal ends at 1pm EST on Monday.

Cue a whole new audience seeing Bethesda’s classic fantasy RPG for the first time – or, perhaps, many Skyrim Veterans spend the January holidays wallowing in nostalgia. Sunday, Skyrim peaked at 67,622 competitive players of Room. That makes it the 28th most played on Steam in the past 24-hours, just behind Helldivers 2, DayZand new releases Dynasty Warriors: Originsand ahead of Steam stalwarts Warframe and Euro Car Simulator 2.

The number of players is only only short of the Special Edition all-time record of 69,906 players combined, recorded at its launch in 2016. It is one way behind the numbers recorded by the first version of Skyrimhowever debuted to a peak of 287,411 players back in November 2011.

However, it’s worth noting that this isn’t some phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes moment. Anytime, someone, somewhere to play Skyrim. A lot of people, actually. Special Edition has rarely seen a monthly peak of less than 25,000 Steam players since the beginning of 2020. And, if anything, its player numbers are on the rise. Skyrim is one of the great sports perennials.
