Ted Price, creator and CEO of Ratchet & Clank and Marvel’s Spider-Man creator Insomniac Games, has announced his retirement from the game industry, saying he “felt it was just time to get out go and let others walk for our team.”
Price founded Insomniac (then known as Xtreme Software) in 1994, and the studio released its first title – the first action shooter – two years later. Soon after, the studio began working on a project that would make its career in the film industry famous, creating popular franchises such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance: Fall of Man.
Insomniac’s relationship with PlayStation finally led to Sony acquiring the studio in 2019, after which it has seen continued success for three Marvel’s Spider-Man games.
Now however, after 30 years steering Insomniac, founder and CEO Ted Price is stepping down. “After being very fortunate to enjoy a successful career in the game,” he written on the Sony Interactive website“I will retire from business at the end of March.”
“I decided this last year,” Price added. “For me, after more than 30 years of leading Insomniac, I felt it was just time to step aside and let someone else lead the way for our team.”
The statement added “a successful plan that I know will provide the continuity, stability and leadership necessary to deliver much of what our fans love for years to come” has worked for some time So, Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider and Jen Huang have was announced as Insomniac Games’ new co-studio head.
“I want to thank everyone at Insomniac for being such a great and lasting influence on my life,” Price concluded. “Working side by side… for many years has been a gift that I will cherish for the rest of my days. support – support us to make each game far better than the last. We do what we do. for you and I can assure you that we will not be slow.
Insomniac is currently developing Marvel’s Wolverine, which still doesn’t have a release date despite previous reports that it was targeting 2025. Images of the unreleased program are available on Spider-Man -man game also appeared last year after a major crime – but it is believed that the project , along with a host of other first-party PlayStation live-service titles, is now canceled.
