I finally finished Cyberpunk 2077 yesterday, and today 2.21 points just a little frustrated because CD Projekt finally fixed a small but annoying bug in the Phantom Liberty expansion that forced me into a fight I never wanted.
Minor spoilers follow, so skip that bit and go straight to the notes if you’re concerned about such things. Bugs appeared late on Phantom Liberty, when V dressed up as a Cuban hitman for a bit head with NPC. You can talk him out or kill him – but talking him out leads to a bug that prevents you from changing the secret at the end of the encounter. Worse, the game refuses to let you leave the area until you do, so you’re stuck in a grungy way back until the end. It’s a great bug, going by the number of complaints on Reddit and elsewhere, and the only sure thing to do is to delete the old save and start cracking.
It wasn’t particularly difficult, but it pulled me out of the story because the rush to violence isn’t how my V rolls. There is no point affecting the game – everything is solved the same whether you fight or not – but it is the principle of the thing that affects me: I discussed the Deal and now all I want to do is change my clothes! (I also spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out another way before I finally gave up and started pouring lead.)
However, that is not the most important development in this area, but it is fixed and that is good news for everyone who is infected and has not yet completed the activity. The bigger news is the addition of DLSS 4 support with multi-core for Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs, which promises to use the magic of AI to support large frames. These cards won’t be available for purchase until January 30, but the RTX 40-series cards will still see improvements from a faster single frame design with reduced memory usage.
On top of that, there are improvements and updates to the game’s graphics, character creation and vehicle fixes, a few tweaks to Johnny Shotgun (which is honestly my favorite end-stage addition for Cyberpunk 2077-I’m not tired of him yelling at me to slow down), and a bunch more.
